Countess Gott Athe is an antagonist of Your Throne and an old acquaintance of Thesion Solon.

Appearance[]

Personality[]

Background[]

When Medea proposed an insightful idea during their discussion about political affairs, Gott praised Medea's intellect and commended Thesion for raising a magnificent child.[2]

Plot[]

Ever since the revelation of a false oracle, the nobility feared the duke had yet to learn about his impending downfall at his daughter's hand. Medea's invitation provided a ray of hope for the nobility to come in direct contact with the duke, and on her way to the manor, Gott reveled at the prospect of witnessing the House of Solon's prospective ruin with her own eyes. Medea greeted Gott upon arrival in a patronising tone that indicated Medea was acting as her father's proxy in his absence. Despite insisting on meeting with Thesion, Gott then confronted Medea if the oracle and Thesion's illness had any correlation with each other, to which Medea responded with a slap to her face.[3]

Etymology[]

  • The etymology of the name "Gott" derives from the Proto-Germanic word gudą, meaning "deity" or "god". [4]
  • The surname "Athe" may refer to "Atë" which derives from the Greek word ἄτη. Atë was the Greek goddess of mischief, delusion, ruin, and folly. Mythology personifies Atë as the daughter of either Zeus or Eris.[5]
    • Atë led both gods and men to a path of ruin, rash and inconsiderate actions and to suffering.[6]

Trivia[]

  • Historically, the surname Gott was first identified in Bavaria. In early medieval times, it was often tied to the feudal society that was found all over Europe. (The feudal system is a system that granted large pieces of land to lords, "landholders", who employed commoners (peasants) to work on their land in exchange for protection, thus "tying the common man to his superior".) [7] Later, Gott became the name of a noble family with great influence and multiple distinguished branches, who was well-known for its involvement in social, economic, and political affairs. [8]

Quotes[]

Others may not have known...but I could tell after visiting the duke's manor. Medea was laying in wait like a lioness and had full control over the house. It's only wise to side with the person in power.
