"The Birthday Banquet (1)" is the eighth released episode of Your Throne by SAM. Medea and Eros share a dance together as the honored guests of the birthday banquet. Helio prevents Psyche from causing any rash decisions.
Synopsis[]
During the birthday banquet, Eros releases Medea from the basement, and the announcers and guests make statements about how beautiful the couple looks together, much to Psyche's dismay. She feels immense envy towards Lady Medea, thinking that she should be the one with him, only to be interrupted by Helio. He says that they are provoking Psyche, and tells her not to listen to them.
While the couple is dancing, Eros states that "Psyche" has not made any clumsy movements of the sort, to which Medea responds by saying that she's trying to make him proud. Eros states that he was "born again" on the day that he met Psyche.
Later, the two are presented in thrones and are being displayed riches, as a servant whispers something to Eros along the lines of "Your guests have arrived." This makes Medea suspicious, so she sneaks out after he leaves. Helio catches a glimpse at her.
Meanwhile with Psyche, a woman, addressing Psyche as Medea, says that she was "looking all over for her". The woman says that she was worried sick after hearing the rumor that Medea had gone mad, triggering some memories from Psyche. Lady Seira, the youngest daughter of the Seira house, always tried to get on Medea's good side, but she was always rejected, and took her anger out on Psyche. Later in the flashback, Helio says that Seira would regret her actions because she always thought that Medea would win the Crown Princess Contest. She was blinded by power, and that she'd want to get on the Callista's good side, rather than the Solons. She would try to trample over Medea in order to get on Psyche's good side.
Psyche, looking back on this, smiled, thinking that she could fool everyone.
Medea, now on a balcony, contemplates about how she thought that everything would go her way, but she ended up feeling trapped instead. The Callista House was always deeply connected to the temple, and the Imperial Family was always fighting with the Temple. Despite this, Eros chose to take Psyche as his future wife. Medea believes that she wasn't getting the full story, and she was missing something. Suddenly, Heli appears before Medea and remarks how he was worried about her.
While with Psyche, she retorts by saying that she had to go mad in order to overlook the Seira's insulting behavior instead of just killing them. The group of women, taken back by this, immediately switch sides, saying that Lady Seira was the one to go mad, putting themselves in the better spotlight. Seira is insulted, as she states that the other women had asked her to see if Medea had gone insane.
Psyche, seeing how she could look down at people with no problem, believed that maybe she could go on living as Medea. However, she overhears people talking about Medea (who they think is Psyche) and exchange remarks about whether the two could be married next year. Psyche breaks down upon hearing this, cries, and begs God to wake her up from this "dream" before it's too late. She wants to go back to her original body.
With Eros, having to meet up with his "guests", who are knights, who were handpicked in secrecy by the Imperial Family, orders the knights to find Psyche, and kill her.
